PRIORITIES

Priorities for Newhall School District

Newhall School District has a strong tradition of academic excellence, dedicated educators, engaged families, and schools that prepare students to thrive. My priority is to protect what is working, strengthen the areas where our schools need support, and make thoughtful decisions that keep students at the center.

Strengthening Parent Communication & Involvement

Parents and families are a child’s first and most important advocates, and they should feel informed, welcomed, and connected to their schools.

I believe strong communication between families, teachers, administrators, and the district builds trust and helps students succeed. Parents should have clear, accessible information about what is happening in their schools, opportunities to provide meaningful input, and confidence that their questions and concerns will be heard.

As a Board member, I want to strengthen the partnership between our schools and families and encourage more opportunities for parents to participate in the life of their school community.

Supporting Teachers, Administrators & Staff

Great schools depend on great people. Our teachers, administrators, classified staff, specialists, and support teams are the foundation of every successful school day.

The Board should listen to the people doing this work every day and ensure they have the resources, professional support, and working environment they need to serve our students well.

Supporting our workforce also means valuing experience, encouraging professional growth, maintaining open communication, and making responsible decisions that help Newhall School District continue to attract and retain exceptional employees.

Continuing Academic Excellence

Newhall School District has earned a reputation for strong schools and high academic standards. We should protect that tradition while continuing to look for ways to help every student reach their full potential.

That means maintaining and supporting strong foundations in literacy and mathematics, providing additional support when students need it, and creating opportunities for students who are ready for greater academic challenges.

Supporting the Arts & the Whole Child

A great education is about more than test scores.

Music, visual arts, theater, physical education, enrichment, and other creative opportunities help children discover their talents, build confidence, collaborate with others, and develop a lifelong connection to learning.

I believe the arts should remain an important part of the Newhall School District experience. Every child deserves opportunities to explore, create, perform, and discover what inspires them.

Fiscal Responsibility & Accountability

Every dollar entrusted to our school district should be treated with care.

My service on the Newhall School District Measure E Citizens’ Oversight Committee gave me firsthand experience with the importance of transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

As a Board member, I will bring that same approach to the district’s broader financial decisions: asking questions, understanding long-term impacts, protecting classroom priorities, maintaining fiscal stability, and making sure public resources are being used effectively.

Fiscal responsibility isn’t simply about spending less. It’s about making thoughtful choices so that our resources support our educational priorities today while keeping Newhall School District strong for the future.

Keeping Students at the Center

Every decision made by the School Board ultimately reaches a classroom, a teacher, a family, and a child.

My approach will always come back to one question: How does this decision help our students succeed?

That means listening to parents, respecting and supporting our educators and staff, working collaboratively with district leadership, protecting academic excellence, supporting the arts, and being a responsible steward of public resources.

Newhall School District already has so much to be proud of. I have been a proud parent of the district long before this moment and I want to build on that foundation and help ensure our schools remain places where students are challenged, supported, inspired, and prepared for what comes next.
